You can get a glimpse of the future IT workforce in the bright eyes of students pictured here. They're the winners of an IT Leadership Forum Technology Scholarship. 16 are being awarded to Iowa high school seniors who have been active in technology and plan to earn an IT-related degree. Each recipient will receive $1,000 to apply towards their college education.

Of the 16 recipients, 10 are involved in HyperStream -- a program developed by the Technology Association of Iowa that matches mentors with high schools throughout Iowa. Iowa State University will welcome 10 of the scholarship winners later this summer (15 of the 25 students who've received a Forum Technology Scholarship chose ISU). All will attend an Iowa college or university, as required by the scholarship rules.

Five are #1 in their class. Four will be computer science majors. Three will major in software engineering (nine of the recipients have an engineering-related major; one will minor in Mandarin Chinese). One recipient is an Eagle Scout. Another is captain of the tennis team. Congrats to all.
