5 Resources for Your Career
The iPad our recruiter, Sarah Feddersen, is holding is a nice way to browse our recommended virtual resources for your career. Some of these you'll know; others may be new. All are online and worthy of your review (on whatever hardware you use):
The Ladders.com
You can find career tips and articles anywhere, but some of the best are found at The Ladders.com. The Ladders.com connects you to jobs that pay $100,000 or more. Whether you qualify for a job that pays $100K or not, create a profile on the Ladders website and opt-in to receive their email newsletter and alerts.
Glassdoor.com
If you want to check salaries at local companies or compare your salary to others, try Glassdoor.com. The website allows people to anonymously post their salary and compensation. You can search by company and/or job title.
LinkedIn.com
People are buying stock in your resume, so to speak. LinkedIn.com went public recently--the first social network site to do so--based on the traffic it has created by having 100+ million people put their career profile on the site. It's a go-to resource for most recruiters and human resource staff. LinkedIn is creating a feature that will let you apply to a job directly from your profile.
Indeed.com
Keep track of nearly every job board-Careerbuilder, Monster, Dice and some company career sites-in one place. Indeed.com is an aggregator, compiling job postings from job websites which allows you to peruse openings in one place instead of visiting many websites. You can save searches online or download the Indeed.com app from iTunes or the Android market.
