Des Moines, Iowa – October 15, 2018 – Paragon IT Professionals, a leading regional I.T. Staffing and Solutions provider, announced today that its IT Leadership Forum Charity Golf Tournament has also raised over $100,000 to fund scholarships for graduating Iowa seniors. Scholarship recipients will attend Iowa universities and plan to earn STEM-related degrees.
The charity golf tournament began in earnest 6 years ago when IT Leadership Forum creator and co-owner of Paragon, Joel Jackman, was looking for ways to give back to the Iowa IT Community and encourage local students to stay in Iowa for their education and careers. “The future IT leaders of tomorrow are the students that we support with scholarships today,” said Jackman. “Paragon and our IT Leadership Forum member companies are in this for the long haul, so they appreciate that we’re driving our support down to the grassroots level.”
Like most around the country, Iowa’s employers cite a skilled worker shortage. To address the shortage, a number of public-private partnerships and also programs have emerged and are making an impact. The number of Iowa high school students taking STEM-related courses is now steadily rising. This is in tandem with technical course offerings also at the state’s 15 community college campuses. “Paragon wants to remove as many barriers as possible for Iowa’s best and brightest,” said Craig Jackman, Co-Owner of Paragon. “After 21 years of serving the IT Community, we’re absolutely committed to being a part of the long-term solution.
The IT Leadership Forum Scholarship application process will open in 2019 and will also provide 18 additional, $1000 scholarships to Iowa high school seniors, bringing the total to 110 since inception. Visit http://bit.ly/ITLFScholarship for more information.
